*first of all, I would like to apologize for the my broken English here. Please do not continue your reading if you are easily to get irritated by bad English, Thank you!
I was considering to go home or continue the route after completed the Angkor's trip, end up i decided to continue my adventure, head to Thailand then slowly move down to south. I'd went to few provinces in Thailand, and not interested to Bangkok too because had been there twice. I was attracted by the Buddha's head which wrapped in the roots in the iPad, so i decided to go to Ayutthaya. The route trip from Siem Reap to Ayutthaya are, get the bus to the Bangkok and then transfer to Ayutthaya by the train. After planned the timing and booked the guest house, my 32nd day journey had began.
The Guesthouse recommended a bus company which suppose to be good to them, end up i wait with bunch of tourists by a road side for 20 minutes, then a BAS KILANG (factory's worker bus in Malaysia) finally came. The classic was there was no space for luggage, all our luggage just place at the corridor of the bus. I's seen few time at least 20 peoples were squeezing in a small van on the road, may be this was consider a good treatment to them?
Nightmare was not end yet, finally we did arrived the border of Cambodia & Thailand. The immigration department at Cambodia was just look like a bus station where without air con, only 2 counter were opened. I guess there were many of the tourist wish to spend their lovely Christmas Eve in Thailand, we all had queued up here for 30 minutes. The BEST was the Thai Immigration Department, there were tonne of people queuing up there and each 20s of us took 30 minutes to take turn to the counter, i'd got my stamp finally after 3 and the half hours!!! Ya, FINALLY! I was told by a Malaysian who often came to this place, there were some officer collecting the "under table" 300 Baht outside the queue for immediate entry, no wonder i saw lot of the people entry the building easily from other special gate. I was arrived Bangkok at 8pm which was 4 hours late because of this shitty's bribery system, and, my first night guest house's paid room at Ayutthaya was burned!
It's only charged 15 Baht for the train from Bangkok to Ayutthaya, and it's took 1.5 hours. The Baan Are Gong Guesthouse I'd booked are located near the Ayutthaya Train Station. It was an old style Thai house, and partly was burnt years ago because the neighbor's fired. Now you can see two type of door after renovation, luckily they still managed to remain some original charming Thai's door which is around 1 feet higher from the floor. The lady boss was a teacher, so she could speak well English, plus also Mandarin from her half Chinese blood. The sister was helping there too, they both really friendly and helpful, i had a nice experience of staying this time.
The helpful sister brought me to the bicycle rental near by to get a bicycle with 40 Baht, then went back to the little jetty next to the guesthouse to cross the river with 4 Baht because the historical park were at the opposite side. If any of you is going to stay here or nearby the train station, plus thinking of rent a bicycle, i'm here to give you a tips. There are plenty of bicycle rental with the same price at the opposite too, else, you will have to carry the bicycle like a cow from the boat to the jetty and also climbing the stairs!
Ayutthaya is just similar as Angkor Wat, there are plenty of temples at the historical area. My purpose this time was just the Buddha's head, so i just went to visited 3 temple only. Each temple here need to buy the ticket and it's cost 50 Baht. The Buddha's head's seem to be the popular spot in Ayutthaya because surrounded by tourists. My mission was completed after took the photo here, and spent my quiet Christmas Eve and Christmas here, and heading to Chiang Mai at the night by the night bus.
